Latife Tekin

My English version is not a translation of all Norwegian texts. I plan to make some translations, particularly of what I write about Latife Tekin. But again, time will show... .

Latife Tekin was born in1957 in the district  of Keyseri  south west of Ankara. Her family lived in a small village, but movet to Istanbul when Latife was just a girl. Latife has written novels and three of these are translated into English. These are: Dear Shameless Death, Tales from the Garbage Hills and Swords of Ice. Dear Shamless Death was the first novel and this was published in 1983. Today Latife is considered as one of the great writers in Turkey and her novels are even more popular than Ohran Pamuk´s, the Nobel Prize Laureate. Nothing is written about her in the Norwegian version Wikipedia, but you find some information in the English version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latife_Tekin#Novels

In the 90s she established Gümüslük Akademisi for cultural activities. The Academy consists of a library, seminar rooms, a gallery, and an outdoor amfi theatre  In the garden there are a restaurant,  pond, and cabins for the guests. It´s a twenty minutes walk to the beach.
